The Dade County is a county in the state of Georgia to the United States . The county seat is Trenton , named after the city of the same name in New Jersey .

The county is in the extreme northwest, bordered by Tennessee to the north and Alabama to the west . It has an area of ​​451 square kilometers, has no significant water surface and borders on Walker County to the southeast .

The county is part of the Chattanooga metropolitan area .

history

Dade County was formed on December 25, 1837 as the 91st County in Georgia from parts of Walker County. It was named after Francis Langhorne Dade of Virginia , a major who was killed in fighting with the Seminoles in 1835.
