The Clinch County is a county in the state of Georgia to the United States . The county seat is Homerville .

The county is located in southern Georgia and borders Florida to the south. It has an area of ​​2,135 square kilometers, of which 39 square kilometers are water surface and is bordered clockwise by the following counties: Atkinson County , Ware County , Echols County and Lanier County .

history

Clinch County was established on February 14, 1850 from parts of Ware County and Lowndes Counties. It was named after General Duncan Clinch , who defeated the Indian chief Osceola in Florida in the Indian War of 1812 and later served in the US Congress.
