The Calhoun County is a county in the state of Georgia to the United States . The county seat is Morgan , named after General Daniel Morgan , an important figure in the Revolutionary War.

The county is located in southwest Georgia, about 25 miles from Alabama to the west and about 100 km from Florida to the south. It has an area of 734 square kilometers, of which nine square kilometers are water surface and is bordered clockwise by the following counties: Terrell County , Dougherty County , Baker County , Early County , Clay County and Randolph Counties .
history
Calhoun County was formed on February 20, 1854 from parts of Baker County and Early County. It was named after John C. Calhoun , a senator from South Carolina and Vice President of the United States . The county courthouse burned to the ground in 1888 and 1920, respectively.
