The Taylor County is a county in the state of Georgia to the United States . The county seat is Butler .

The county is located in west-west Georgia, about 50 miles from Alabama and covers an area of 983 square kilometers, of which six square kilometers are water, and is bordered clockwise by the following counties: Upson County , Crawford County , Peach County , Macon County , Schley County , Marion County, and Talbot County .
history
Taylor County was formed on January 15, 1852 as the 98th County of Georgia from parts of Macon County, Marion County and Talbot Counties. It was named after Zachary Taylor , an officer in the Texan-Mexican War and later 12th President of the United States. The 2006 film For One Night, starring Raven-Symoné Pearman, dealt with this topic.

According to the 2010 census, the then 8,906 inhabitants were distributed among 3,522 inhabited households, which gives an average of 2.44 people per household. There are a total of 4563 households.

58.5% of the population identified themselves as whites, 39.3% as African American , 0.1% as Indians and 0.6% as Asian Americans . 0.7% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 0.8% to several ethnic groups. 1.8% of the population was made up of Hispanics or Latinos .
The average annual income per household was 27,114 USD , while 28.4% of the population lived below the poverty line.
