The Glynn County is a county in the state of Georgia to the United States . The county seat is Brunswick .

geography

The county is located in southeast Georgia, south of the Altamaha River on the Atlantic Ocean and has an area of ​​1,516 square kilometers, of which 422 square kilometers are water. It is bordered by counties in a clockwise direction: McIntosh Counties , Camden Counties , Brantley Counties , and Wayne Counties . The county is part of the metropolitan area of ​​Brunswick .

Fort Frederica , built in 1736 and abandoned in 1748 , is a coastal fortress of the British colony of Georgia against the Spaniards in Florida on St. Simons Island offshore .

history

Glynn County was formed on February 5, 1777 as one of the eight original counties. It was named after John Glynn , a member of the British Parliament .

According to the 2010 census, the then 79,626 inhabitants were distributed over 31,774 inhabited households, which gives an average of 2.46 people per household. There are a total of 40,716 households.
