The Mitchell County is a county in the state of Georgia to the United States . The county seat is Camilla , named after the daughter of General David Mitchell .

The county is located in southwest Georgia, about 40 miles to the west from Alabama and about 25 miles to the south from Florida's northern border. It covers an area of 1,331 square kilometers, of which five square kilometers are water surface, and is bordered clockwise by the following counties: Worth County , Colquitt County , Thomas County , Grady County , Decatur County , Baker County, and Dougherty Counties .
history
Mitchell County was formed on December 21, 1857 from parts of Baker County. It was named after David Brydie Mitchell , a governor, Senate president, and commander of Georgia troops after the Revolutionary War.

According to the 2010 census, the 23,498 inhabitants at the time were distributed over 8,055 inhabited households, which gives an average of 2.65 people per household. There are a total of 8,996 households.
