The Johnson County is a county in the state of Georgia to the United States . The county seat is Wrightsville , named after James B. Wright , a co-founder of the city.

The county is located in eastern Georgia and 90 km to the northeast from South Carolina . It covers an area of ​​794 square kilometers, of which six square kilometers are water surface, and is bordered clockwise by the following counties: Jefferson County , Emanuel County , Laurens County , Wilkinson County, and Washington County .

history

Johnson County was formed on December 11, 1858 as the 129th County and Georgia from parts of Emanuel County, Laurens County and Washington County. It was named after Herschel Johnson , a Georgia governor, senator, and hapless US vice president.
