The Whitfield County is a county in the US state of Georgia to the United States . The county seat is Dalton .
geography
The county is located in northwest Georgia, borders Tennessee to the north and is approximately 50 km from Alabama to the west . It covers an area of 753 square kilometers, of which two square kilometers are water, and is bordered clockwise by the following counties: Murray County , Gordon County , Walker County, and Catoosa Counties .
The county is part of the metropolitan area of Dalton .
history
Whitfield County was formed on December 30, 1851 as the 97th County of Georgia from parts of Murray County. It was named after Reverend George Whitefield , the founder of the Bethesda Orphan House in Savannah.

According to the 2010 census, the 102,599 inhabitants at that time were distributed among 35,180 inhabited households, which gives an average of 2.89 people per household. There are a total of 39,899 households.
