The Murray County is a county in the US state of Georgia to the United States . The county seat is Chatsworth .
geography
The county is located in northern Georgia, on the southern border of Tennessee and about 90 km to the west from Alabama . It covers an area of 892 square kilometers, of which six square kilometers are water, and is bordered clockwise by the following counties: Fannin County , Gilmer County , Gordon County, and Whitfield Counties .
The county is part of the metropolitan area of Dalton .
history
Murray County was formed on December 3, 1832 from parts of Cherokee County. It was named after Thomas Walton Murray , a Speaker of the House of Representatives in Georgia. The mission of the Moravian Brethren among the Cherokees was in Springplace from 1801 to 1838.
Historical objects
In Chatsworth historic stands Wright Hotel (also known as Chatsworth Hotel ). Completed in 1909, the inn is located on East Market Street at number 201 and was listed on June 17, 1982 by the National Register of Historic Places as a Historic Monument with the number 82002456.

According to the 2010 census, the 39,628 inhabitants at that time were distributed over 14,080 inhabited households, which gives an average of 2.80 people per household. There are a total of 15,979 households.

89.1% of the population identified themselves as whites, 0.6% as African American , 0.4% as Indians and 0.3% as Asian Americans . 8.0% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 1.6% to several ethnic groups. 13.0% of the population were Hispanics or Latinos .
The average annual income per household was 38,136 USD , while 18.8% of the population lived below the poverty line.
