The Grady County is a county in the state of Georgia to the United States . The county seat is Cairo , named after the Egyptian city of Cairo or after the city of Cairo in Illinois .

The county is located in southern Georgia on the northern border with Florida and has an area of ​​1,192 square kilometers, of which six square kilometers are water, and is bordered clockwise by the following counties: Thomas County , Decatur County, and Mitchell Counties .

history

Grady County was formed on August 17, 1905 from parts of Decatur County and Thomas County. It was named after Henry W. Grady , an influential journalist for the Atlanta Constitution newspaper . He created the reform catchphrase of the New South .

The average annual income per household was 31,653 USD , while 31.1% of the population lived below the poverty line.
