The county is located in northeast Georgia, borders South Carolina and has an area of ​​797 square kilometers, of which 46 square kilometers are water and is bordered clockwise by the following counties: Richmond County , McDuffie County and Lincoln County .

The county is part of the metropolitan area of ​​Augusta .

history

Columbia County was formed on December 10, 1790 from parts of Richmond County. It was named after Christopher Columbus .
