The Baker County is a county in the state of Georgia to the United States . The county seat is Newton .

The county covers an area of ​​904 square kilometers, of which 15 square kilometers are water. It is bordered by counties in a clockwise direction: Dougherty County , Mitchell County , Decatur County , Miller County , Early County, and Calhoun Counties .

The county is part of the Albany metropolitan area .

history

Baker County was formed on December 12, 1825 as the 61st county from parts of Early County and named after Colonel John Baker , one of the first farmers and soldiers in the American Revolutionary War.
