The Wayne County is a county in the state of Georgia to the United States . The county seat is Jesup .

The county is located in southeast Georgia, about 25 miles from the Atlantic Ocean in the southeast and about 50 miles from Florida in the south. It covers an area of ​​1,680 square kilometers, of which eleven square kilometers are water, and is bordered clockwise by the following counties: Long County , McIntosh County , Glynn County , Brantley County , Pierce County , Appling County, and Tattnall Counties .

history

Wayne County was formed on May 11, 1803 as the 28th County of Georgia from the land of the Creek Indians. It was named after General Anthony Wayne .
