Erna Elisabeth Dorothea Sellmer (born June 19, 1905 in Hamburg ; † May 13, 1983 in Munich ) was a German actress .

Life

Erna Sellmer completed her acting training at the University of Music and with Ilka Grüning in Berlin . She made her debut at the Green Stage in Thale at the age of 24 . From 1930 she worked at the Osnabrück City Theater and then at the Augsburg City Theater . From 1937 to 1940 she was part of the ensemble of the Münchner Kammerspiele , after which she worked at the Deutsches Theater and other theaters in Berlin until the end of the war . Her roles included mother Henschel in Gerhart Hauptmanns Fuhrmann Henschel , mother Wolffen in Der Biberpelz , the matchmaker in Measure for Measure and the maid Rosa in The Robbery of the Sabine Women .

In addition to her stage work, she took part in over 50 German-language feature films (e.g. Große Freiheit No. 7 ), mostly in supporting roles, such as B. in the television series Country Doctor Dr. Brock (1967) as a doctor's assistant Helene and Adrian the Tulip Thief (1966) in the first German color television series . Her film successes include The murderers are among us , our daily bread and vacation from the ego .

She also lent a voice actress her voice, among others Hattie McDaniel in her Oscar -prämierten role in Gone with the Wind .

Sellmer was seen from 1945 as a theater actress at the Hebbel Theater and the Schlossparktheater .

Erna Sellmer died on May 13, 1983 in Munich. She was buried in the Munich forest cemetery , anonymously, Neuer Teil, grave field 421.
