Secretly, quietly and quietly ... is a German music film from 1953 by Hans Deppe with Gretl Schörg , Hans Nielsen , Theo Lingen and Walter Giller in the leading roles.

action

Berlin, long ago. Carola Werner was once a celebrated operetta and revue star, who delighted many of her admirers with her bright singing voice. She has withdrawn a little from the public eye since her divorce. When she returns to her domicile one day from a premiere, the well-to-do landowner Harry Vondenhoff is already waiting for her to take a look at her. Because his young, stormy and still a little inexperienced nephew Peter Vondenhoff fell head over heels in love with her at one of Carola's rare performances.

The older of the two Vondenhoffs is quickly deeply impressed by the singing Lady of the World, but several misunderstandings mean that the two do not get closer at first, although there is mutual sympathy and maybe even a little more. After all, it is Peter Vondenhoff, of all people, who clears up these misunderstandings and clears and paves the way for his uncle to meet Carola. In the meantime, Peter himself has found a new girl, Margot von Dinkelage, the noble daughter of the neighbor. Now nothing stands in the way of a double wedding.

music

Michael Jary composed his music using numerous songs by Paul Lincke :

  • It is written in your eyes
  • Love comes secretly quietly and quietly
  • What a woman's heart desires
  • My only love
  • Castles that lie in the moon
  • In a quiet night when nobody is awake
  • O Theophil, o Theophil
  • See, this is a business
  • Give me a little love
  • Take me with you
  • Keep your head held high
  • Thai guard parade
  • Firefly

Reviews

Der Spiegel wrote: “Fleeting, but quickly illustrated Paul Lincke album. In Papp-Berlin, built on Munich's studio floor, director Hans Deppe turned up the finer world (Gretl Schörg and Hans Nielsen) and the servants' room (Theo Lingen and Ruth Nimbach) at the turn of the century. "

In the lexicon of the international film it says: "The anemic story about a scandal-ridden, beautiful woman is staged without temperament and is poorly held together by the lively melodies alone."
