action

Shortly before his birthday, Robert Ziegel once again fled to his cone brothers from his energetic wife Klara . Klara has kept his money for years and feeds him off with a little pocket money, so that he even has to have the donated rounds recorded in the bowling center. Since Klara also likes to check him out and even had a doorbell put on the door to be able to check his coming home, he prefers to enter the apartment via the balcony after bowling in the evening. He takes some money from Klara's guarded cash register and is ultimately mistaken for a burglar by the police who were called by Klara. Robert doesn't know that Klara has saved up all these years for a house that she wants to give him on his birthday. The police operation has brought the barrel to overflow with him and Robert leaves Klara.

At the sausage stand, he meets Ivonne Berger, who is looking for volunteers for a 500-kilometer hike on behalf of the Malina shoe company. He has her work address given. The next morning - Robert has slept on the park bench and made friends with a dog he calls " Tünnes " - Robert goes to the Malina company and volunteers for the hike. His companion is the reporter and draftsman Bertram, who lives separately from Ivonne. Both should cover the distance on foot in shoes from the company Malina and will be paid for the kilometers covered as part of this promotion. You are now hiking through Germany and enjoying nature.

Meanwhile, Klara tries to find out Robert's whereabouts. When the police refuse to help her find it, Klara's friend Mieze says that both men are dangerous marriage swindlers. Suddenly Robert and Bertram see their wanted posters in the cities and are arrested a short time later. Klara and Mieze appear at the police station and Ivonne also joins them. They explain that both men are innocent, but they have already fled with Tünnes. After small chases, Robert, Bertram, Ivonne, Klara and Mieze find themselves at a village festival. The whole time Klara carried the model of the house with her that she symbolically wanted to give Robert for his birthday. Now she has lost any desire to please him. Nevertheless, she explains the background of the house model when she meets Robert at the party. For the first time he reacts enthusiastically to his wife and looks forward to spending time together in the little house. Bertram and Ivonne also get back together: Although they were never divorced, they are now planning a second wedding.

criticism

The lexicon of international film called Robert and Bertram a "folk piece for Millowitsch and Torriani", which both also lead to comedy fields. “The remake of the eponymous stage swing has hardly anything to do with the original. A leisurely and unimportant comedy with elements of Heimatfilm, ”wrote Filmdienst .

For Cinema , Robert and Bertram were "a mess of nonsense".

The Protestant film observer drew the following conclusion: “Undemanding, yet enjoyable comedy about two pedestrians with friendly landscape and music elements. Possible from 16. "
