Ekkehard Kyrath

Ekkehard Kyrath (born July 20, 1909 in Köslin , West Pomerania , † January 20, 1962 in Berlin ) was a German cameraman .

Life

Ekkehard Kyrath worked for Ufa and Terra as a camera assistant and simple cameraman since 1928 . In 1937 he worked as a co-cameraman at the side of his teacher Günther Rittau in Verklungene Melodie .

After further films with Rittau, the French film Queen of Hearts with Fernandel, made in Berlin, became his first work in sole responsibility. Immediately afterwards he was behind the camera in Rittau's first directorial role, Brand im Ozean .

Kyrath made a number of comedies and melodramas in the years that followed. After the war he was able to continue his work as a cameraman, several times with Hans Albers as the main actor. In 1961 Kyrath, who was seriously ill with cancer, had to hand over camera management to Karl Löb while filming the abortion melodrama I Can No Longer Silence .
