action

Konrad Berger, a middle-aged man, returned home from captivity as a broken man. The building contractor also has to cope with the early death of his wife and is now alone with his two sons Friedel and Rolf. Johanna, who is still very young and almost a girl at the age of 18, takes care of the two children and the household, and has temporarily found accommodation in a laundry on the outskirts of town. Johanna begins to do everything in her power to give the building contractor courage so that he can find new courage and look to the future with optimism. When Berger wanted to give his two children away because he felt emotionally overwhelmed, Johanna was even ready to marry the much older man so that through this selfless act a real family can finally be re-established and the children keep their biological father. Berger accepts Johanna's generous suggestion.

But not only Johanna has her eye on the building contractor, also the fun- loving milliner Hilde Streuber would love to catch Konrad Berger, he is a "good match". However, she is still the partner of Ewald, a middle-aged man with whom she actually wanted to emigrate to Brazil. But since Berger seems to be a good catch and is not at all averse to Hilde, Hilde embarks on the romantic adventure with Konrad. When Ewald finally got the documents she needed for Brazil, Hilde decided to go back to her old crush and left Berger alone. He finally realizes what he's got in Johanna and asks her forgiveness. The young woman forgives him, and the marriage of convenience even turns into a love marriage.

Reviews

Paul Hühnerfeld wrote on the occasion of the Hamburg premiere in Die Zeit : “Anyone who believed that they had reached the low point of German film with 'Finale', was taught better by the premiere of the 'Camerafilm' 'Die Zeit mit Dir' ... Because the sentimentality and kitsch that is expected of the visitor here can claim the fame of at least not having been outbid in the new German film production. The story ... is trivial in itself. But it still offers no reason to operate for two hours without a break with banalities, interrupted only by mendacious idylls and phrases. All of this is done with an array of brilliant actors ... All of this is done with an investment of a lot of valuable raw materials, lighting, costumes and structures. It really looks as if the German production would not have any restrictions so that it could afford such a film. "

"Thin-blooded film with average performances."
