from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Georg Hurdalek (born February 6, 1908 in Görlitz , † July 15, 1980 in Munich ) was a German screenwriter and film director .

After finishing school, Hurdalek decided to become an actor, attended drama school and made his debut at the theater in Görlitz at the age of 18. Soon, however, he was more interested in the design work. He built his own puppet theater , with which he performed in Silesia and Berlin. In 1932 he became a lecturer and assistant director in the Theater am Schiffbauerdamm .

As an assistant director he switched to film and wrote screenplays since 1934, mostly for film comedies . After the war he tried himself several times as a film director, but mainly remained an author. Hurdalek adapted literary sources such as Des Teufels General and Der eiserne Gustav , edited the memoirs of Countess Trapp in The Trapp Family and provided the script for the time-critical film satire Rosen for the public prosecutor , for which he received the film tape in silver .

In the 1960s he wrote, among other things, one contribution to the Edgar Wallace films and one for the Jerry Cotton film series. The last scripts of the well over sixty year old have teenage problems on the subject.

Hurdalek was married to the actress Eva-Ingeborg Scholz , with whom he also had a son born in 1951 , in his first short marriage . His last marriage to a chanson singer and writer (stage name as singer Barbara Eff , as author Annoula ) lasted 11 years until his death in 1980.
