content
The boy Heintje grows up with his single father, Klaus Helwig, who works as a bank clerk. When Helwig was suspected of having embezzled a large sum of money, he was arrested without further ado. In order to prevent Heintje from ending up in a children's home, the lawyer Renate Ahrens places him with his wealthy grandfather Friedrich Wilhelm Berthold. Since the death of his daughter Maria, who died when Heintje was born, Berthold has been a bitter man who has broken off all contact with Klaus and Heintje. In order to continue to avoid his grandson, whose father is also a supposed criminal, he quarters Heintje in the basement of his property. After all, the active housekeeper Mrs. von Schleinitz takes care of the child there.
Over time, Heintje can soften the heart of his grandfather, who is basically a good-hearted person. But when the boy finds out that Robert Engelhardt, junior head of the bank, is responsible for the embezzlement, Berthold doesn't want to know anything about it. Heintje finally sets off alone to the Côte d'Azur , where Engelhardt wants to handle a criminal deal with the gangster Willi. Finally, out of concern for his grandson, the grandfather travels after him. There are dramatic scenes, but in the end the real criminals are found and Klaus Helwig is a free man again.

"Extremely undemanding mixture of sentiment and kitsch and a somewhat naive crime adventure, garnished with new slutty hits by the child star Heintje at the time."
“Fairytale-like, cozy, happy to sing. From 10 for Heintje fans. "
