The excellent educator Dr. Peter Bach only teaches primary school students at the Tuttelbach dwarf school, although he has a summa cum laude doctorate in German and natural sciences . When this is noticed in the ministry, it is decided to transfer him to the Mommsen-Gymnasium. When Ministerial Director von Schnorr came by personally to meet Dr. Informing Bach, he accidentally started a fire with his cigar thrown in a wastepaper basket, which left the entire school in ruins.

Bach moves to Baden-Baden with his nephew Jan to teach the notorious 12a at the Mommsen-Gymnasium. As soon as he arrived, he witnessed a prank in this class on Dr. Knörz, b. Pollhagen. Her knitted dress was rolled up to a mini-skirt size with the help of a fan that Pepe Nietnagel and his friend had set up. While the entire teaching staff is upset, her husband even wants to file charges, Dr. Bach still removes fashionable aspects from the whole thing and calls the school a dark place. With the study professor Blaumeier, he creates his first enemy, because he fishes an allegedly lost and far too well failed Latin work from the wastepaper basket and thus prevents rewriting under severe conditions. With the students, however, he makes himself popular when he celebrates his debut with them in a wine bar and asks them to self-grade their class work.

However, Professor Blaumeier, who happened to be passing by, observed the hustle and bustle in the wine bar and reported this to Dr. Taffeta. With Dr. Taft is initially satisfied with Bach's explanation of the incident as an educational measure. But when Dr. Bach gives the class a whole day because of reluctance to rehearse the pupil performance of Wilhelm Tell , it is enough for Senior Director Dr. Taft for good. He calls a special conference to hear Dr. Suspend Bach. But he did not expect the smartness of the 12a. With the help of a microphone, she spied on the staff room and informed Dr. Brook. He takes revenge by appearing as a fake medical officer, which is what Professor Blaumeier in particular has to suffer from. The impending suspension also dissolves in favor, as Pepe's father, the stamp dealer Nietnagel, made a personal donation to the senior director of studies, Dr. Taft unties a bear. He mentions a conversation with the education minister about the special envoy Bach, who makes short work of the improvement of education in schools with incompetent teachers.

The victim of the next prank is once again Dr. Knörz, who has to watch as his VW Beetle is dismantled as a supposed study object in physics class . Dr. Bach receives from Head of Studies Dr. Taft, on the other hand, only praise, also for the school performance of Wilhelm Tell , which has been converted into a mixture of musical and western and is even broadcast on television. Happiness finally becomes perfect when his nephew Jan manages to couple him with the young music teacher Julia Schumann.

History of origin

prehistory

After the first three “Lümmel” films turned out to be extraordinarily good business, Constantin Filmverleih was also planning an episode for 1969 that was to be released shortly before Christmas. Like the second part, Zum Teufel mit der Penne , the film was conceived as a Peter Alexander film for a broad family audience. At the side of Alexander in this film, the child star Heintje also returned, this time even in a leading role. The advertising of the film distributor promised: "This has never happened before: Peter Alexander and Heintje sing and play together in the biggest drama film!"

As with the first two parts, the director was Werner Jacobs , who now specializes in family films . His previous film, Heintje - A Heart Goes on Travel , showed the child star in his first leading role.

In addition to Peter Alexander and Heintje came in Hurray, the school is on fire! again some permanent actors from the film series are deployed, above all Hansi Kraus , Theo Lingen , Rudolf Schündler , Ruth Stephan and Hans Terofal . Well-known actors could be engaged for guest roles, including Gerlinde Locker , Werner Finck , Alexander Golling and Wolfgang Gruner . For the second time you saw Carola Höhn , Harald Juhnke , Pierre Franckh and Jutta Speidel .

Some interior shots were shot in the Bavaria Film studios in Geiselgasteig . The buildings came from Heinz Eickmeyer. Ina Stein was responsible for the costumes .

music

Once again, the producer achieved a great success, so that a continuation of the "Lümmel" series was planned for the following year. Hurray, the school is on fire! However, it was the third and last film in the "Lümmel" series, which had more than three million cinema visitors and was awarded the Golden Screen for it.

Reviews

“The louts from the first bank have their own way of getting the fun out of the school. A new teacher, whose dwarf school has burned down with all its old braids, is said to be the new victim. But Dr. Dr. Peter Bach suddenly becomes her best accomplice. He turns the school upside down, knows no problem of authority and shows all who want to understand it, behind the dusty dignity, the pure ridiculousness. This fresh wind, kindled by the emotional troubadur Peter Alexander with the golden boy Heintje, with lively ideas and comedians like Theo Lingen hits again a hearty laughing audience. "

"A sometimes not accidental routine performance with the character of a pissing-off that can hardly claim any interest in its complete description of the circumstances."

"Primitive slapstick that affects the imagination of children and fob off the entertainment needs of young people with cheap food."

"Lingen masters the balance between caricature and humanity."

"Here everyone becomes a truant."

"Embarrassing nonsense - insufficient!"
