action

Peter von Münchhausen works as a music teacher in a private girls' school. With his famous ancestor, the legendary baron of lies , he has at least the vivid imagination in common, not so much his brisk nature. After a crazy, musical performance during geography class, in which his musical talent ran away with him, Peter is dismissed by the school principal without notice.

With some of the pieces of music he has composed, Peter would like to introduce himself to a television station and, due to a mix-up, ends up in the live broadcast of a television program in which he is presented as an expert in African music. With a lot of musical skill, Peter can free himself from this tricky situation and quickly leave the TV studio again.

But his television appearance earned him another job with the bestselling author Karla Mai. Peter is supposed to accompany her, her son Karlchen, to whom he gives private lessons, and her secretary Josefine as tour guides to Africa. Josefine has been adored by the rather shy musician in this respect since he first saw her. On arrival in Nairobi , the quartet meets two alleged big game hunters who offer their help. The two are in reality the wanted crooks Revolver-Bill and Knacker-Jan.

With Josefine, Karla and Karlchen Mai in their wake, Peter begins a series of dramatic adventures in which he not only has to deal with wild animals, but also has to act as a medicine man in order to heal the daughter of a tribal chief. Finally, Peter and Karlchen manage to arrest the two crooks Bill and Jan and hand them over to the authorities. At the end of his African safari, Peter can not only collect the reward for capturing the two crooks, but also celebrate his private happiness with Josefine, whose heart he has captured.

criticism

"Modest mixture of shallow slapstick, preschool ethnology and a few pretty animal photos."

TV Wishlist spoke of a "musically over-the-top comedy" which "indulges all African clichés without serious or hurtful intentions."

The criticism of the editorial staff of Cinema was restrained: "Olle Kalauer with Peter Alexander, who is fooling himself through Africa as a descendant of the baron of lies."
