The Star of Santa Clara is a German music film by Werner Jacobs from 1958.
action
The Sicilian singer Carlo del Ponte is a star in America. The women swarm around him and he soon wants to retire to his cousin Antonella in his home village of Santa Clara. He takes his manager Freddy with him. In addition, the fanatical Carlo supporter and millionaire heiress Mitzi Underhuber starts the journey with them, which Carlos manager previously elicited the destination Carlos.
In Santa Clara, Sicily, it soon becomes apparent that the two family clans Tartini and del Ponte, after the alleged murder of the penultimate del Ponte Pancratio, are out to murder the last male family members according to the law of blood revenge. The last male del Ponte is promptly Carlo, while the Tartinis brothers Tino and Matteo are still alive. Carlo does not think about murdering Tino and Matteo, but falls in love with his cousin Antonella, who demands that the two brothers be murdered before they marry. The three men therefore resort to a posed duel, after which Tino and Matteo go into hiding for three days.
The engagement between Carlo and Antonella is celebrated, but Mitzi, in love with Carlo, and Mario, in love with Antonella, suspect that something went wrong during the duel. They find Tino and Matteo in a forest hut and guide them back to Carlo, who is about to leave for America with Antonella and his aunt Theresa. Both women are horrified that Carlo has turned out to be a coward. At that moment Pancratio, believed dead, returns to the village. He fled from his dominant sister-in-law and got married abroad, so that on his return he can be his own master again. The reason for the blood revenge is now obsolete, the war between the del Pontes and the Tartinis is settled. Carlo, Antonella, Theresa, Freddy and Mitzi travel back to America together.
