Life

Tagore took acting lessons from Lu Säuberlich after secondary school and was drafted into military service from 1943 to 1945. Back in civil life again, he received training in singing and dancing. Tagore made his artistic debut in 1946 as an operetta singer in Düsseldorf, followed by engagements in Mannheim and Detmold. From 1950 to 1952 Tagore belonged to the ensemble of the Hildesheim City Theater, from 1952 to 1954 he worked in Bonn, then until 1958 at the City Theater of Bern. From 1958 to 1960 Harry Tagore appeared on stages in Hamburg (comedy, chamber play).

At that time, the Berliner had already worked for radio and had made early appearances in television plays and in movies, including the two final productions (1960) by Hollywood returnees Wilhelm Thiele . Tagore played supporting roles of all kinds: he was seen both as an on-board mechanic, as a doctor and police officer, but also as an Indian prince and newspaper reporter. Tagore has hardly appeared in front of the camera since the late 1970s, most recently he was seen in television versions of theater performances in Cologne with Willy Millowitsch . In addition to his acting activities, Tagore continued to perform as a singer and, for example, interpreted cabaret chansons as a duet partner of colleagues such as Topsy Küppers and Gunnar Möller . Harry Tagore last lived in Grevenbroich .
