The Last Pedestrian is a film comedy starring Heinz Erhardt , which premiered on September 15, 1960 in the Grand-Palast in Frankfurt am Main .

action

Gottlieb Sänger, archivist at the Zeitblick magazine , detests trams, automobiles and bicycles as well as elevators and paternosters - he prefers to walk. The annual summer vacation that he will spend in the Black Forest this year will be the enjoyable highlight of his otherwise modest existence . When Gottlieb boarded the train going south, an old lady asked him to take care of her granddaughter Christine "Kiki" Cornelius. Shortly after leaving, Kiki causes some confusion for Max and Rudi, two young students who are on their way to Constance . Although Kiki was supposed to go to her boarding school in Geneva , she, like Gottlieb, gets off the train in Baden-Baden to go to the casino . After a few hours, the two of them leave the casino, completely broke with the exception of a small reserve.

Gottlieb finally wants to get rid of Kiki, but she accompanies him on his hikes. On the way he takes pictures which he sends to the editorial office of his magazine, to his friend, the photo reporter Hiss, for development. When Hiss shows the photos to his editor-in-chief, he turns them into the big series “The Last Pedestrian”. The cover picture of the next issue will be the unsuspecting Gottlieb and his companion Kiki. Gottlieb is very angry about the misuse of his photos, and the publication is not a success with Kiki's grandmother, who believes her granddaughter has been in Geneva boarding school for days.

But after Gottlieb's return, all anger quickly evaporated when he was offered 3,000  marks and an editorial post, which he didn't want. Kiki's grandma can also be convinced of the harmlessness of the holiday. So Gottlieb Sänger returns to his silent archive, trying hard never to attract attention again.

Reviews

“Heinz Erhardt as a backpack hiker in the Black Forest with involuntary holiday joys. Modest comedy that was re-released during the Erhardt Renaissance in the 1980s and achieved astonishing success in cinema and television. "

"Idyllic comedy with gentle swipes at the hectic pace of modern life."

- Heyne Film Lexicon, 1996

"An almost perfect reflection of the belittled instincts and permitted longings."

"Off-the-shelf entertainment film, without mess, but also without humor."
