John Klings Abenteuer is the title of a German television series based on a series of novels. The half-hour episodes ran in 1965/66 (1st season, 13 episodes) and 1969/70 (2nd season, 13 further episodes) on Wednesdays in the ZDF evening program. They were produced in the Hamburg-Bendestorf and CCC-Studios Berlin studios . The film was shot in black and white .
action
John Kling and Jones Burthe, played by Hellmut Lange and Uwe Friedrichsen , formed a pair of agents who also took on the most dangerous jobs around the globe. The deed happened at the beginning of each episode, then the opening credits with series title and follow-up title ran out. Then the two protagonists sat in the office of some police or intelligence chief who turned to them with the words: " I have an assignment for you, John Kling ... ".
The two had to solve exciting and dangerous cases worldwide. For example, in (communist) Hungary to solve the mysterious death of a functionary ( episode 3: The Pünköschky case ), arrest a bank robber in Italy ( episode 4: the perpetrator is known ) or protect an Arab monarch from an assassination attempt in Germany ( episode 8 : The assassination ). Some places where the events occurred were not even mentioned or were fictitious, e.g. B. the Arab country Sabria .
John Kling's adventures were based on the longstanding novel series , the first edition of which was published in 1926. The authors were Heinz Krafft, Paul Pitt, Max Wing, Hermann Falk. She combined the basis of a series of novels with the similarly structured series Percy Stuart , with which she also alternately shared the transmission slot .

Reviews
"The series, which was probably created in the wake of the German crime fever in the cinema ( Wallace ) and television ( Durbridge ), remains in terms of tension and quality, however, behind ARD -competing productions such as" Kommissar Freytag "with Konrad Georg or" The strange methods of Franz Josef Wanninger " with Beppo Brem . In guest roles you hardly ever see familiar faces. "
