Gerhard Narholz (born June 9, 1937 ) is an Austrian composer , arranger and conductor .

Life

Narholz studied composition at the Vienna Music Academy, as well as musicology and education. He initially devoted himself to light music and wrote pop songs for Petula Clark , Heidi Brühl , Bill Ramsey and the music for German hits / homeland films and TV series from 1958 to 1965 . During this time he arranged and produced long-playing records for Polydor Germany and Polydor Tokyo (under his pseudonym Otto Sieben ).

In 1965, Narholz founded the Sonoton Recorded Music Library. 1970–1980: under the pseudonym Norman Candler , Gerhard Narholz arranged, conducted and produced several long-playing records with his "Magic Strings" for Teldec Germany and London / King Records, Tokyo. In 1971 Norman Candler received the BBC's "Three Star Award" for "Best LP of the Year". In September 2015 Gerhard Narholz received the "Hall of Fame" Mark Award from the Production Music Association (PMA) for his life's work.

Narholz founded the label PRO VIVA and PRO NOVA Musikverlag, dedicated to the compositions of living classical composers. He composed and produced easy listening albums for Sonoton and Intersound with Billy May , Horst Jankowski , Nelson Riddle , Les Brown , Ted Heath , Mr. Acker Bilk , Xavier Cugat , Franck Pourcel and others. a. 1980–2009 the focus was on compositions by production music for Sonoton. Gerhard Narholz is co-owner and managing director of Sonoton Music GmbH & Co. KG , Munich.
