Rüdiger Piesker

Rüdiger Piesker (born June 10, 1923 in Berlin ; † September 26, 2004 ) was a German band leader , composer , orchestra conductor and music producer in the field of light music , hit songs and easy listening .

Piesker started taking piano lessons at the age of four. After finishing school, he studied at the Berlin University of Music with the aim of becoming Kapellmeister for choir and opera. He began his career in 1954 as an assistant to Werner Müller and his RIAS dance orchestra. During this time he was involved in the RIAS as sound engineer on recordings by Acker Bilk , Sammy Davis Jr. and Attila Zoller .

In 1962 Piesker finally founded his own orchestra with which he recorded a number of records such as “Die kleine Stadt wants geht'n” and “Happy-José (Ching-Ching)” (1962); as a composer he also used the pseudonyms Rolf Cardello and Paul Rothman . I.a. he wrote hit titles for stars such as Gaby Baginsky , France Gall ("Then it's more the piano player"), Harald Juhnke , Billy Mo and Wencke Myhre .

With his orchestra he also recorded music for radio and the film industry. With his studio band, Piesker also accompanied stars such as Helga Brendgen , René Kollo (“Hello, Mary Lou”, “As Gone by the Wind”), Peter Frankenfeld (“When grandma walked without knees”, with Friedel Hensch and the Cyprys ) and Toni Sailer . In later years he worked as a producer for the record label Polydor . In 1971 he took over the light music division at RIAS .
