action

Frank Boyd flies to Hong Kong to visit his old buddy Edward Collins, who has built a lucrative existence there and is about to marry the attractive Meredith Harris. But as soon as he arrives, Frank learns that his friend has just been murdered. He fell victim to a sniper in front of the warehouse of the transport company Delgado in Hong Kong harbor. Not long before, Edward had left a mysterious suitcase with his fiancée, but it was empty. In any case, Boyd does not want to go unpunished for his friend's death. And so he begins to look for Collins's killer. Also, Meredith's father put an HK $ 10,000 bonus on the capture of the perpetrator, which Boyd can use.

Boyd is supported by the young Chinese girl Mai Li, whom he had met shortly before. He had recently bailed out this Macau girl by vouching for her and allowing her to enter Hong Kong. As security, Boyd had to leave his ID at customs. He only gets his ID back on payment of HK $ 2,000. Frank is able to release his passport with an advance from Harris and begins looking for the killer. There are powerful circles in Hong Kong who put obstacles in his way. Soon he comes up against the opaque Delgado, who is as ruthless as it is brutal.

Delgado has already decided to have Boyd eliminated. Meanwhile, Frank visits Edward's old apartment, hoping to find something there about his possible killer. Boyd discovers a packet of heroin in the apartment . Three Chinese gangsters, Delgado's people, who chased him there, try in vain to overpower him. They shoot Frank as he tries to escape over the rooftops of Hong Kong. There the Hong Kong police stop him and take him to Captain Richmond. Boyd hands him the heroin and asks him to check the empty suitcase for traces of heroin as well. In Harris's house, he finds the Chinese gardener who obviously has something to do with the disappearance of the contents of the suitcase. From a phone booth, he informs the people behind him, as Frank observes with binoculars. A little later, the gardener is found dead by Mr. Harris in the swimming pool.

When he broke into Delgado's demolished warehouse to investigate another lead, he was caught in the machine gun fire of his Chinese opponents. Boyd can only escape with difficulty. When he spoke to Delgado on the phone, he advised him to leave Hong Kong immediately. Delgado also threatens to harm "a lady you know" if he stays. In fact, Boyd goes to the airport pretending to leave. He is being watched by Delgado. However, Frank secretly returns to Hong Kong. At the market he meets Mai Li again, who is ready to help him.

Delgado has since learned that Boyd has secretly returned to Hong Kong and has Mai Li kidnapped from the market where she works. One tries to beat Boyd's whereabouts out of her. But this frees them from Delgado's captivity. He then sneaks onto a junk that regularly transports coffins to the Hong Kong cemetery. Boyd discovers that this transport junk is being used to smuggle drugs. Before he is discovered, Boyd jumps into the water. Then he returns to Mr. Harris's mansion. Boyd explains to Edward's widow that her husband was involved in the booming drug trade. The coffin junks were used to transport heroin. Suddenly, not only Harris comes along, but Delgado too. He draws a gun and takes Catherine hostage. Then he confesses the murder assignment to Collins. With a prepared lighter, actually a pistol, Meredith shoots Delgado in the face, and Delgado falls dead.

Frank Boyd confronts Mr. Harris with his research. Then there is a big surprise. Harris himself is the head of the drug trade, Delgado only served as his sidekick. Eventually, Captain Richmond shows up and arrests Harris. Mai Li, who is waiting in hiding for Frank's return, is murdered in an ambush by the same killer who killed Edward Collins. Boyd is told that Mai Li, the Hong Kong girl, has "gone home".

In moviemaster.de it was said: “So 'The girl from Hong Kong' doesn't leave out any cliché - sometimes to the point of unbearable. Only tolerable for 'cult fans' of the early 1970s. "

“'Blacky' in a clumsy penny novel format” was the opinion of the Cinema website .
