Lu Säuberlich (born November 9, 1911 in Osterholz near Bremen ; † August 5, 1976 in Berlin ; actually Liselotte Säuberlich-Lauke ) was a German actress and voice actress .

Life

Lu Säuberlich completed her acting training in Frankfurt am Main , where she also received her first stage engagement. Theater stations followed in Stettin and Berlin (comedy) before Heinrich George brought her to the Berlin Schiller Theater in 1939 . There she caused a sensation especially as Renate in Max Halbe's youth directed by Jürgen Fehling . Even after the end of the war she remained connected to the Berlin theaters. In 1951, when the Schiller Theater reopened, she became a member of the ensemble of the Staatliche Schauspielbühnen Berlin . For 25 years she played at the Schiller and Schlosspark theatersunder directors such as Boleslaw Barlog , Walter Felsenstein , Oscar Fritz Schuh , Karlheinz Stroux and Hans Lietzau . Her repertoire included batch and character roles.

In 1963 she was awarded the title of Berlin State Actor for her artistic achievement .

In 1945 Lu Säuberlich also made her feature film debut in The Girl Juanita . In addition to her extensive stage work, she has also repeatedly appeared in film and television productions such as the drama Ein Frauenarzt accuses , the Gerhart-Hauptmann adaptation, the Edgar-Wallace crime novel Neues vom Hexer and the comedy The world is still at seven in order based on the eponymous novel by Eric Malpass . She was also known to a nationwide audience as grandma in the early evening series Here the Chef Cooks.

In addition, Lu Säuberlich worked for many years as a voice actress and lent her voice a. a. Ethel Barrymore ( The Spiral Staircase ), Linda Darnell ( The Unfaithful ), Greer Garson ( Years Found ) and Myrna Loy ( Gabilan, my best friend ).
