My daughter - your daughter is a German comedy of confusion by Werner Jacobs from 1972.

action

School attendant Oskar Sommer has a problem: he wanted to show off to his divorced wife in America and said that he had made a career as a college teacher. In fact, Oskar Sommer, a teacher at Sommer's school, regularly cleans his house. When Sommer's 19-year-old daughter Elisabeth arrives in town, who has not seen her father for 15 years, Sommer asked Oskar to pretend to be Elisabeth's father. Oskar is flattered after initial concerns and agrees.

His distant relative, the unsuccessful painter Rick, also lives in Oskar's house. He takes Elisabeth, called Lill, who comes from Italy, with him in his convertible. Both want to freshen up briefly in Oskar's villa and Lill actually wants to start looking for her father when she learns that the house owner is called Oskar Sommer. She stays. Oskar, in turn, suspects Lill at the station on the train from Italy and sends a friend to the station to pick Lill up. Who, in turn, believes that he has Lill in front of him in the American Betty Snell, he misinterprets the name "Betty Snell" as an indication that she wants to go to sleep quickly. Betty is now greeted as Lill by everyone. Lill, on the other hand, who had a clash with Sommer at the beginning, explains the mix-up to Betty. Both want to report to Oskar immediately that Betty is not Lill, but they change their minds: Both hear a conversation between Oskar and Rick in which Oskar declares that he is not Lill's father at all. However, he does not mention the name of the actual father. Lill now asks Betty to play her part a little longer. Meanwhile, Lill tries to find her real father.

Oskar actually has enough excitement at school, because school supervisor Weber is at school to look for a suitable successor for school director Regina Körner. Weber favors the strict schoolteacher Staub, whom the students do not like and on whom they therefore play various pranks that ultimately make Weber doubt the suitability of Staub as a director. Dust, on the other hand, knows that Oskar is his greatest opponent. When he was walking past Oskar's house one evening and saw Betty kissing him in her role as a daughter, he wrote an anonymous letter to director Körner, in which he denounced Oskar. She wants to form her own picture of the situation, but only finds Oskar's house in Sommer, who is cleaning up and has found her ID in Betty's closet. He now believes Betty is a con man and goes to her with Körner.

Betty is staying at Landskron Castle with Lill, Oskar and Staub, who warns Oskar with a bad conscience about the letter and the arrival of Körner. Rick had taken part in a hit competition with his friend Edi, a student of Dust. The composition that Oskar had created many years ago was a success, even if guitarist Rick had to step in as a singer for the indisposed Edi. The title won the competition and will now be recorded for the radio at Schloss Landskron along with the others. As Rick sings, all misunderstandings resolve. Körner confronts Oskar, who in turn learns from Sommer that Betty is not Lill. Oskar gets angry, but Lill rebukes him for not being the right father either. This in turn angered Sommer, since he had asked Oscar not to reveal his secret. Lill now falls around the neck of summer, who is her real father. Ms. Körner, on the other hand, sees that her concerns were unnecessary and congratulates Oskar on the new director's position. Dust turns out to be a fair loser. Oskar and Sommer, on the other hand, finally offer themselves the you, because they will soon be related anyway: Rick and Lill are a couple.

criticism

The film service called My Daughter - Your Daughter a “silly mixture of mix-ups, schoolchildren and hit clogs.” For Cinema it was “a film based on the motto: A song by Chris Roberts still fits between two bad gags. Conclusion: Olle Gags and Schlager: Laughter quota meager ”.

Filmecho / Filmwoche said that the director "savored the fluctuating effects to the limit, but largely guarded against excessive overdrive."
