Hans Jura

Hans Jura (born March 21, 1921 in Vienna ; † November 25, 1996 in Bad Ischl ) was an Austrian cameraman .

Jura received training in photography and film in the 1940s. After the end of the Second World War he began working as a cameraman with short documentaries. It was not until November 1962, beginning with Will Tremper's surprise hit The Endless Night , that he started making feature films on a regular basis. Together with Wolf Wirth , he recorded the resistance drama Password: Heron in 1963/64 .

Since the second half of the 1960s, Jura has mainly worked with director Ernst Hofbauer on his sex and action films. Most recently, Jura used the pseudonyms Jans Hura , James Hura and Jens Hira . He also collaborated with director Radley Metzger . For television he shot, among other things, the series Die Melchiors and the multi-part Jauche und Levkojen .

In 1963 he received the film tape in gold for The Endless Night for his camera work and in 1964 the same award for Keyword: Heron . Jura lived in Munich since 1988 and worked as a cameraman for the Wiener Musikverein . Most recently he retired to Bad Ischl.
