occupation

Nowhere is Poenichen is a multi-part TV series from 1980 that was produced by Bavaria Atelier GmbH . It is based on the novel Nirgendwo ist Poenichen by Christine Brückner from 1977 and is the sequel to the multi-part series Jauche und Levkojen .

action

Maximiliane Quint fled to Berlin with her four small children from Pomerania during the Second World War . Once there, she looks unsuccessfully for her husband Viktor. Since the family can only find temporary shelter in the big city, which is in ruins, they move on to the family headquarters, Burg Eyckel in Franconia , where Maximiliane gives birth to her fifth child on Christmas 1945.

To find the other family members, the quints head north again. Maximiliane opens a fish fry in Marburg . When her godmother dies, Maximiliane inherits the Eyckel headquarters. She sells him to relatives. The years go by and an invitation comes from America from her mother Vera. The family went on a trip to the United States in the mid-1950s.

After her son Golo died in a car accident and the other children moved out, Maximiliane left Marburg and traveled back to Eyckel Castle, which is now a hotel. She sets out for Poland to find the Poenichen estate, where she grew up.

criticism

“As in 'Jauche & Levkojen', the TV adaptation scores with very good actors and an elaborate production that takes a lot of time for detail. Above all, Ulrike Bliefert, as a mother of five in post-war Germany, is once again showing a brilliant achievement. "
