Sigfrit Steiner (born October 31, 1906 in Basel , † March 21, 1988 in Munich ) was a Swiss actor and director .

Life

The son of a dentist and an actress completed his training at the drama school of the German Theater in Berlin under Max Reinhardt and made his debut as a stage actor in Gera in 1928 . Numerous theater engagements were to follow, including in Berlin, Lucerne, Bern, Zurich and Munich. From 1972 to 1974 Steiner was a member of the Vienna Burgtheater .

He made his film debut in 1938 with the Swiss film production company Füsilier Wipf (director: Leopold Lindtberg ). Chiel Weissmann from the film distribution company Emelka showed the film Das Menschlein Matthias in 1941 . The main actors were Steiner, Röbi Rapp , Leopold Biberti , Hermann Gallinger , Petra Marin, Hans Fehrmann, Waldburga Gmühr, Ditta Oesch, Marga Galli and Edwige Elisabeth. Directed by Edmund Heuberger .

When Meinrad Lienert filmed the novel Der Doppelte Matthias und seine Töchter in 1941 , Steiner wrote and directed. Walter Kägi was the recording assistant, and Robert Blum wrote the music . The film was shot in the Einsiedeln area above Oberiberg on the "Guggern".

Over 200 roles in film and television followed, such as B. 1958 in It happened in broad daylight and Der Schinderhannes , 1962 in Georg Kreisler's parody Sodom and Andorra, 1966 in Without a permanent residence with Hans Pössenbacher or in the same year as Dr. Stass in an episode of the Raumpatrouille series . In 1964 and 1981, he received the gold film tape for his performance as well as the prize of the international Protestant film jury at the Berlinale in 1976 .

Until his death, Steiner was married to the journalist and author Anne Rose Katz for the third time . He died in 1988 at the age of 81. His grave is in the Volkach am Main cemetery .
