Robert Blum (composer)

Robert Blum (born November 27, 1900 in Zurich ; † December 10, 1994 in Bellikon ) was a Swiss composer and conductor .

He received his first piano lessons from Reinhold Laquai . He graduated from the Zurich Conservatory with Volkmar Andreae ( composition and conducting ) and Carl Baldegger ( piano ) and graduated with a diploma as a teacher of theoretical subjects. Then he went to Berlin and continued his composition studies with Ferruccio Busoni . After his return to Switzerland he worked as a freelance composer and conductor of various choirs and orchestras. From 1943 to 1973 he worked as a lecturer at the Zurich Music Academy . His extensive oeuvre contains works from numerous musical genres.
