Pinka's brown
Pinkas Braun (born January 7, 1923 in Zurich ; † June 24, 2008 in Munich ) was a Swiss actor , theater director , radio play speaker and translator and speaker of audio books .
Career
Braun grew up as the child of Jewish immigrants in Switzerland and broke off a business apprenticeship at the age of 16 to become an actor. He received his acting training at the Schauspielhaus Zürich (stage studio), where he was engaged from 1948 to 1956. At the same time, he learned the craft of directing as an assistant to Bertolt Brecht , who brought the world premiere of his play Mr. Puntila and his servant Matti to the stage in Zurich in 1948 . Braun went on many tours with the “Young Troop of the Playhouse”, which he founded. He then played in theaters in Austria , Germany and Israel .
Braun was a sought-after film and television actor, mostly as a seedy character. In the cinema he is best known for his roles in Edgar Wallace films and their epigones . In 1966 he was the villain in the Perry Rhodan movie Perry Rhodan - SOS from space . He played the title hero 39 times in the television series Jörg Preda travels around the world between 1966 and 1977: the adventurous travel journalist Jörg Preda is repeatedly involved in various criminal cases during his visits to exotic countries and takes on the task of solving them. Each episode was 25 minutes long. The first 13 ran from 1966 in all regional evening programs, some under the titles Jörg Preda , Unterwegs with Jörg Preda and Jörg Preda travels around the world . After a twelve-year break, two new seasons emerged with a total of 26 further episodes, which were then called Jörg Preda reported .
Braun has appeared in more than 120 television games and series, including The Secrets of Paris (1980), Nowhere is Poenichen (1980), in the episode Zucker Zucker of the television series Black Red Gold (1987), in two episodes of the crime series Derrick and in a series by Edel & Starck (2003). His distinctive voice also made him a sought-after speaker for audio books and radio plays. In particular, his roles as William von Baskerville in The Name of the Rose and as Charles Barron in the episode The Three ??? and the threatened ranch from the radio play series The Three ??? unforgotten. He was also heard in a larger role in one of the famous Paul Temple radio plays by Francis Durbridge , namely in 1959 in Paul Temple and the Spencer case . Braun played his last role in 2003 in the episode Message from the Grave of the series Adelheid and Her Murderers alongside Evelyn Hamann .
In addition to his acting career, he has translated theater plays into German. From 1959 to the 1980s he was the exclusive translator of the works of Edward Albee , whom he helped achieve as a contemporary dramatist in German-speaking countries. The translations were published by S. Fischer Verlag; he was temporarily married to the publisher's daughter, Gisela Bermann-Fischer . Bermann-Fischer, like their daughter Deborah, who now lives in the USA, adopted the name Braun.
Braun had two children from two marriages, one of his wives was Anneliese Betschart . The daughter Judith comes from a relationship with Karin Kernke . Both are or were active as actresses. He and his partner Ingrid Resch also had a diverse and longstanding artistic collaboration in radio plays, poetry readings, on the stage and in front of the camera. He died after a long illness and was buried in the cemetery of the Liberal Jewish Community in Munich.
