Alte Gauner is a comedic crime series by ZDF . The eight episodes were broadcast for the first time in 1985 on the evening program from 6 p.m. at short intervals. It was produced by the Berlin Allianz Filmproduktion under the direction of Lilo Pleimes .

Each self-contained episode tells of swindles and rip-offs committed by people over the age of 50 for various reasons. The protagonists change from episode to episode, although they move outside of the law, but are portrayed in a lovable way. There are no series actors in this production.

Apart from the episode vacation pay , the series was repeated in 1987. Director Peter Schamoni played in the episode Fabrikanten himself, which he directed . Walter Gross was seen in one of his last roles in Blessed Meal .

The series received praise in the press. The BZ found it succinctly: "Tragic-comic smile stories with a first-class cast."
Brigitte Ehrich wrote in Hörzu (issue 38/1985): “There was no cutback on big stars! - Eight entertainment sweets that were not offered as bed treats, but in the evening program. It was about "old crooks" who were actually all rather poor little sausages. [...] Karl Wittlinger told stories with such lovable subtlety that one often forgives them for lack of logic. And the selected star cast gave even the worst scam an amusing touch of exclusivity. "
