action

Somewhere on the Italian Adriatic : The gangsters Lylle Corbett, Dolph Kostis and his wife Darlene embezzled banknotes worth one million dollars that were about to be sent back to the USA to be crushed. This leads to deaths and injuries. However, one of the three, Dolph, does not want to share the booty and intends to murder Lylle without Darlene knowing about it. Meanwhile, she's waiting for them at the Hotel Americano by the sea. Dolph returns alone and tells her to forget about Lylle: he won't be back. Shortly before, the blonde siren had received a visit from hotel manager Livio Morelli, who asked Darlene to turn the radio down to room volume. The pension operator noticed that there was a $ 1,000 note under the bed. Morelli concluded with razor sharpness that his guests were “Mr. & Mrs. Smithopolis “must be the wanted money robbers.

Dolph and Darlene decide to run away as quickly as possible and charter a yacht for this reason. Sandra Morelli, Livio's pretty and innocent-looking, but morally deeply depraved sister, has long since hid in the back of the boat to plant a bomb that she intends to use to blow up the robber couple in order to get the money herself. Even Lylle, believed dead, has hidden on the boat and takes everyone hostage before the big bang can happen. Lylle steers the boat to the shores of a remote island. Old Xenia, a former actress who lives in her past and takes long walks every day, resides there in a large house. Your faithful servant Jannis takes care of those who have come here to die. A little later, Livio also arrives in search of his sister and the million dollars. He has temporarily given his hotel into the loyal hands of an old friend, Madame Benoit, who is also supposed to take care of the police officer Gino who is investigating the robbery of millions. Dolph, Darlene and Lylle still believe that their camouflage has existed, but all islanders have long known that they are the robber trio.

Unrestrained greed and brutal unscrupulousness soon spread, and everyone tries to get hold of the money: One eats the other, because an unknown killer who murders his way into dollar fortunes from now on is up to mischief. First Dolph dies, strangled with a steel noose. Then Darlene and Lylle have to find out that the money they stole has disappeared. Lylle suspects Livio is behind the theft and beats him violently. In fact, Livio later found the money, but also fell into the clutches of the murderer, who doused him with gasoline and torched it on the boat. Finally, it also hits Jannis, because the murderer rams a knife into his chest. Sandra is scared to death, she just wants to leave the island and promises Lylle that she won't tell anyone about the three's raid. Lylle begins to go insane in search of Dolph's hidden fortune. Only late does he find out that the supposed innocent lamb Sandra is the killer and has long since taken possession of the money. He chases her, Sandra shoots him and hits Lylle several times, who falls into the sea and drowns. In the final battle for the cash, Darlene kills Sandra, who fires shots at Darlene with the last of her strength before she dies. Dying she sinks into the water when policeman Gino, accompanied by Madame Madame Benoit, crosses the sea.

Reviews

“Unsavory gangster film. (...) Sadistic and speculative. "

- Films 1962-64. Handbook VII of the Catholic Film Critics, p. 42.Dusseldorf 1965

“Below-average, unintentionally weird ripper about lust, greed and depravity. (...) A highlight: Jayne Mansfield's constant complaint about her need for clean panties. "

- Leonard Maltin : Movie & Video Guide, 1996 edition, p. 346

Paimann's film lists summed up: "Perhaps useful material that turns into a hardly satisfactory script and despite good strength and lack of appropriate leadership ... only moderately satisfies even less critical visitors."

“Unrestrained greed for money leads to madness and destruction - the film underpins this simple morality with numerous superfluous brutalities and a minimum of plot. Trash. "
