occupation

Crazy and sewn up is a German film pleasure game from 1962 by Rolf Olsen with Rudolf Platte in the leading role of a lovable prison director.

action

The prison director Gernewein's jail is very cheerful, the understanding director is extremely popular with the crooks who call their home “Sonnenburg”. Now, however, the director is to be promoted to the government council - an unforeseen mishap happens: Several prisoners were released early using forged papers, which suddenly calls into question Gernewein's promotion, since an appeal is now threatened.

Prison guard Adolf Meyer then asks the five escapees to come back voluntarily. Outside, in the freshly won freedom, another weird bird, the habitual gangster claw cactus, is ready and waiting. He tries to convince the escapees to break in. But before they disappoint their director, the escapees return to their cozy cells, which they have loved, through a hole made as a precautionary measure.

production

Crazy and Sewn up was written in spring 1962, passed the FSK test on June 19, 1962 and was premiered three days later.

For the cinema veteran Hans Sohnle , who has been active since the silent film era and was responsible for the construction of the film together with Friedrich Thaler, this was one of his last works.

The framework plot around Peter Kraus , who sings the title “Ich steige dir auf Dach”, and Vivi Bach , playing his girlfriend , who can be heard with the title “Sweet Sweety”, have no meaning for the actual story. The appearance of Gunther Philipp , who can be seen here in a double role, is also meaningless for the core storyline.

Reviews

Paimann's film lists summed up: "A cheerful crook story ... lucrative joke."

"Silly slapstick comedy with hits, senseless gags and Gunther Philipp in a double role."
