Franziska Bronnen
Franziska Bronnen (born October 7, 1940 in Bamberg ) is a German actress .
Life
Franziska Bronnen's father is the writer Arnolt Bronnen . She grew up in Linz and graduated from high school there. As a teenager she made her first appearances as an actress. She studied at the Bruckner Conservatory before completing her training in Munich. After several years of theater, first at the Württemberg State Theater in Esslingen, then at the Nuremberg Municipal Theater, television work began.
She played leading roles in the Fontane three-part series "Der Stechlin", in the series "Jauche und Levkojen", in "Memory of a Summer in Berlin", in several "Traumschiff episodes", in the "Black Forest Clinic", in the "Havelkaiser" , and many other productions. Despite these television commitments, she remained connected to the theater. Guest performances on many stages and tours have taken her all over Germany. (Leading roles, inter alia, in "The Soldier's Story", "Uncle Wanja", "Tales from the Vienna Woods", "The Beloved Voice".)
She made many radio plays and radio recordings. Her voice was heard in advertisements, including a. by Ellen Betrix, as well as by Bayern 5. She was also a lecturer at two drama schools. In addition to theater and television, Franziska Bronnen does audio books and readings. One of her focuses is on texts by Stefan Zweig: "24 hours from the life of a woman", "Letter from a stranger", "Debt paid late", "Fear", "The world of yesterday", and the like. a. She also reads crime fiction classics such as Edgar Allan Poe, Ambrose Bierce and Roald Dahl and science fiction stories by Ray Bradbury, poetry and the like. a. by Inge Müller, Gertrud Kolmar, Paul Celan, Peter Huchel, "Traumgedichte", stories for example from Kleist about Maupassant, Herman Melville, Joseph Roth to Irène Nemirowsky, the memories of Emilie Schindler, AR Gurney's letter novel "Love Letters" or the correspondence between Clara Schumann and Johannes Brahms.
Since 2012, together with the German specialist Lutz Götze, she has had a reading cycle on post-war literature in East and West Germany in the Mendelssohn Remise on Gendarmenmarkt in Berlin: “There was never so much beginning”. Most recently, her readings focused on poetry and prose from the mystical cultural area of Chernivtsi.
Bronnen is married to the composer and conductor Pierre-Dominique Ponnelle.
