David Bratton (born October 1869 in New York , † December 3, 1904 in Chicago ) was an American swimmer and water polo player.
At the Olympic Games in 1904, Bratton competed with the 4x50m relay, with which he reached fourth place. He also competed with his teammates from the New York Athletic Club George van Cleaf , Leo Goodwin , Louis Handley , David Hesser , Joseph Ruddy and James Steen , with whom he won the gold medal. The water polo games took place in a heavily polluted lake, which is why Bratton fell ill with typhus a few months after his victory and died a little later.
