James J. Steen (born November 19, 1876 , † June 25, 1949 in New York ) was an American water polo player.
At the 1904 Olympic Games , Steen and his teammates from the New York Athletic Club George van Cleaf , Leo Goodwin , Louis Handley , David Hesser , Joseph Ruddy and David Bratton competed in the water polo tournament with which he won the gold medal. In the final, the team was beaten 6-0 by the Chicago Athletic Association .
