Maria von der Osten-Sacken

Maria von der Osten-Sacken , also Maria Osten-Sacken (born November 17, 1901 in Dessau , † December 17, 1985 in Munich ) was a German writer , screenwriter and film producer .

The baroness first made a name for herself as a writer of romance novels . In 1943 she wrote her first screenplay for the film comedy A man with principles , which was filmed with Hans Söhnker in the lead role. After the end of the war she turned completely to the flourishing German film.

In the 1950s she adapted the Erich Kästner novel Pünktchen and Anton, among others, and helped the leading actress Christine Kaufmann to break through as a child star with her scripts for Rosen-Resli and Der schweigende Engel, directed by Harald Reinl .

In 1954 she founded her own production company, Wega-Film. At another film company, Eva-Film, she acted as managing director. Her works were mostly homeland films in which the main character's fate finally turned for the better. After the end of the German cinema miracle, she lived a secluded life.
