action

The Indian Maharajah Gowan is currently in Hamburg with a large retinue to cure his eye ailment. When visiting a performance at the Busch Circus , the beautiful rider Yrida caught his eye. He is so fascinated by her that he tries everything to win her over to himself. Without hesitation, he immediately puts his helpers Pahana and Lakamba on the artist. The ringmaster soon finds out that the planned tour of South America has been canceled. In desperation, he gratefully accepts the exotic prince's offer to travel to Ceylon with his company . Pahana and Lakamba are smuggled into the circus staff.

The guest appearance in Colombo turned out to be a real triumph. It doesn't take long, however, before Gowan begins to pursue his sinister plans. First, Yrida has to be isolated from her admirers, the tamer Ambo and the young artist Michael. Navarani, the previous favorite of the prince, who is blindly devoted to her master, is assigned to Ambo to seduce him. A cobra is smuggled into Michael's quarters. Their fatal bite can still be prevented in time. When Yrida once again takes her elephant out to bathe, the Maharajah approaches her incognito and wins her trust. However, this fact increases the jealousy of Navarani. Secretly she opens the eyes of the European.

At a festive ball, Prince Yrida asks for the first dance. But this gives him a basket and dances away with Ambo. Irritated, the prince decides to pursue his goal with violence. His henchmen attack the European and kidnap her. Michael wants to rush to her help, but dies in his action by Lakamba's dagger. The murder causes a tremendous commotion among the Sinhalese . In the pursuit of Lakamba, they drive this to the mouth of the erupted King Tiger. He dies in the process.

The car with the drugged Yrida arrives at the Maharaja's palace. He looks forward to the first encounter with the beautiful stranger with delight. The sequel is portrayed in the film “The Prisoner of the Maharajah”.
