Georg Bruckbauer (born July 23, 1900 in Vienna , † April 13, 1976 in Bühl , Baden ) was an Austrian cameraman .

Life

Bruckbauer attended the graphic teaching and research institute in Vienna, where he received training in photochemistry . He then spent two years as an intern at a Viennese graphic arts company.

In 1919 he found Wiener Kunstfilm , then Vita-Film , for which he worked until it went bankrupt in 1924. From 1924 to 1926 he made newsreel films. In 1926 he moved to Berlin, where he soon rose to become chief operator.

After the seizure of power by the Nazis, he moved back to his native Austria, but soon went to Berlin again. Bruckbauer was behind the camera in a large number of film productions, usually typical entertainment films of this era. Only Helmut Käutner's production of Romance in Moll based on Guy de Maupassant is a bit out of the ordinary. In the 50s and early 60s he was responsible for numerous feature films as a cameraman.
