action

Once again, Lucie Carel, an opera diva par excellence, has had a glamorous evening of singing in Paris. Her admirers hang on her lips, but Csibi, as Madame has been called by her mother since she was a child, really only wants to go home, and so she calls Mother Maria to announce her return. At this point, an admirer of the elderly lady, a certain Dr. Lohnau, with Maria, and when Csibis sees a photo of his youth, he is amazed that Maria already has a little daughter. Little does he suspect that this daughter has long since grown up. Maria Carel lets him believe ...

At home with mother, Lucie Carel now has a thieving pleasure in taking on the role of the small child Csibi in order to make her mother appear less old in front of her admirers and the guests of Maria, including Lohnau's friend Dr. To poke Werner, a lawyer, properly. Soon she slips from one role to the other: first she is Csibi, the little face, then again the gifted singing star from the opera world. She is particularly impressed by Dr. Werner, whom Csibi promptly visits under a pretext. When the wife of another man suddenly appears and the two women unceremoniously swap roles and clothes, the mess begins to get tangible. After all sorts of further entanglements, Lucie and Werner finally find each other and each of the gentlemen claims stiffly and firmly that of course they saw through the character from the start.

Reviews

Paimann's film lists summed up: “Although the subject is blessed with humor, speed and grateful situations after a somewhat viscous exposure, it is only foil for the Gaál. She designs the role according to her charming peculiarity, creates an amazing congruence of the external appearance. Thimig, in a good mood as rarely, assists at the head of an elected ensemble. The direction is concerned with the exact guidance of the actors, the uninterrupted flow of the exquisitely pointed dialogue ... and excellent helpers in Brodszky's lively music. "

The Österreichische Film-Zeitung wrote: "In a completely new role, Franziska Gaal ... has found a role that is as grateful as it is difficult, which she solves with enchanting charm and great acting ability."

On film.at it says: “Plots, you have to say that again and again with Neufeld, are basically scaffolding so that the actors have something to exercise on, no more and no less. The effect, in any case, the sight of the Gaal brat is unreasonably irritating and in a kirr-perverse way very, very funny. The dignified ostentatiousness of the production even gives the film the decisive twist: French-savory petitessen between Vienna and Berlin, zest and zack. "
