description

John Grant bought the property from the Craigie family in 1784 . The owner Francis Grant is responsible for the design . Presumably, however, he received professional support. Kilgraston House is first shown on a map from 1794.

Kilgraston House stands on the southwest edge of the Bridge of Earn. In terms of style, the mansion shows parallels to the architecture of Robert Adams . The classicist Kilgraston House, however, also has Gothic motifs. Its masonry consists of quarry stone roughly cut into blocks . The south-facing main facade of the two-story building is nine axes wide. The masonry on the ground floor is rusticated . A Doric portico emerges in the middle . Above this, four Corinthian pilasters extend to the final triangular gable . The corner projectionsare made with narrow Doric pilasters and Venetian windows .
