Tibor from Halmay

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Tibor von Halmay , also Tibor Halmay (born December 20, 1894 in Nagyszentmiklós , † November 3, 1944 in Budapest ) was a Hungarian actor .

Life

In keeping with family tradition, he became an officer. Unemployed after the First World War, he trained as an actor through a friend and appeared in operettas at Budapest theaters.

In the 1920s Max Reinhardt brought him to his theaters in Berlin. In 1930 he took part in his first film, and in the following years Halmay was seen regularly in comedies and music films, often with a Hungarian background. Halmay could seem funny and elegant at the same time in a funny way and in this way gave repeated dance interludes.

One version of his life story says that he was of Jewish origin and was able to hide this to the last. Accordingly, he was drafted for military service and fell.
