The Legs of Dolores is a German revue film by Hungarian director Géza von Cziffra from 1957 with Germaine Damar in the title role. He wrote the script himself under the pseudonym Peter Trenck. In the Federal Republic of Germany, the film first hit cinemas on November 18, 1957. The title melody is a hit from 1951, which at that time was often played by all German radio stations - sung by Gerhard Wendland . Wendland himself is not involved in the film.
action
Dolores Martens is in the process of making a career as a dancer in the exclusive Pigalle nightclub. However, her parents have no idea of this. They believe their little daughter is earning a living as a nurse in Dr. Lorenz. One day, Dolores' mother feels the need to pay her daughter's (alleged) boss a visit. She talks - at least that's how Dr. Lorenz - so much weird stuff that he has her locked in a padded cell. The daughter who is summoned immediately falls in love with the doctor - and he with her!
Dolore's father has now found a job as a night porter at the “Pigalle”, which he is hiding from his wife. Unsuspecting, Dr. Lorenz was invited to the club for the premiere of the new revue. She falls from the clouds when she has to find out what her husband and daughter are up to behind her back, but comforts herself over the fact that she will soon have a doctor for her son-in-law.
music
They sing and dance to the music of Michael Jary : René Carol , Olive Moorefield , Betty Miller , Christa Williams , Owen William , Lys Assia , Udo Jürgens , Peter Alexander , the Peters-Sisters, the Penny Pipers, the Starletts, the George- Garden Ballet and eight unnamed international master dance couples. The choreography was done by Robby Gay. In addition to the song that gave it its name, the film features numerous hits written by Bruno Balz and Hans Stani . A selection: the calypso “Uncle Tom, sing the beautiful songs”, the “Alabama song” ( where does the moon shine as beautifully as here in Alabama? ), The Dixieland “Mirabella, give me a little bliss,” the Mambo "Olala - c'est la vie!" And the song "Fall in love with me!"
criticism
"A draped, playful revue film with a comparatively lavish set of features, which is about the title hit that was popular in the 1950s and which has the not worth mentioning love story of a young dancer as its content."
