action

Alfons Rappert is the loyal servant of Edward Collin, a wealthy heir who lives in a luxurious villa in Cannes . But Collin has a problem - he really just wants to live a simple life and, above all, to be loved not just for his money. When he is informed by his friend, the painter Marcel, that his fiancée Alice has a lover before the wedding, he turns away from her and the jet set . Edward temporarily goes into hiding with Marcel in Saint-Paul-de-Vence and only lets his servant Alfons in on the game of hide and seek.

Edward meets the waitress Ninette and wants to play it safe with her, which is why he pretends to be very poor. But when Ninette finds him a job, things get complicated. Pretending to be a parking attendant or a floor waiter threatens a well-known millionaire to be recognized as such one day, especially since he starts his job as a floor waiter in his own hotel.

Edward is accused of theft, and of course the unfaithful ex-fiancé Alice doesn't give up easily either. Edward is forced to move from one excuse and white lie to the next. Ultimately, however, all situations and misunderstandings clear up to everyone's satisfaction. Edward and Ninette get married and gradually become happy parents of eight children, for whom Alfons is allowed to be the caregiver and family uncle.

Songs

  • Peter Alexander and Heinz Erhardt sing Do not do it
  • Peter Alexander sings fabulous! ' He was a musician , don't you have a nice big barrel there? and Venga, Venga Musica!

Reviews

“Comedy about a Riviera plutocrat who doesn't want to be loved for the money. A Peter Alexander film, whose little joke is mainly produced by Heinz Erhardt. "

“Unfortunately, even a Heinz Erhardt doesn't save every film. It does cause amusement every now and then, but it really can't cover up some platitudes. So 'Such a millionaire has a hard time' is certainly a good representative of the German music film of the 1950s - but you just have to like it ... "

"The freshly acting Germaine Damar puts a hearty poor Hascherl on her slender legs."
